The Starting Five Notes
1.  St. Bonaventure returns to action for the first time in a week to face Niagara in the first game of the Big 4 Classic. This will be the 157th meeting of these western New York rivals.

2.  The backcourt of Jaylen Adams and Matt Mobley is the third highest scoring teammate tandem in the country, averaging 43.4 points per game. One of the top 50 candidates for the John Wooden Award, Adams ranks 11th nationally in scoring (22.8) and is second in the Atlantic 10 in both assists (6.0) and three-point field goals. Mobley ranks fourth in the A-10 at 20.6 points per game. He is also the Bonnies' second-leading rebounder at 7.2 per contest and is shooting .435 from three-point range.

3.  Senior Denzel Gregg has been the leader most people assumed he would be as a senior. Gregg is averaging 11.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and nearly two blocks per game with three double-doubles. Gregg ranks third in the A-10 in blocked shots.

4.  Senior forward David Andoh was slowed by a foot injury in the summer, but has come on strong the past two weeks. Over the last four games, Andoh averaged 12.7 points and 5.2 rebounds. He scored a season-high 15 points against UNC-Wilmington.

5.  This game, which follows a week's break for final exams, begins a stretch where the Bonnies play three times in six days. St. Bonaventure hosts Army and Canisius next week.

Series Notes:
This is the 157th meeting between St. Bonaventure and Niagara. Only the series with Canisius is a more-played rivalry for the Bonnies. St. Bonaventure has won five straight over the Purple Eagles dating to 2011 and leads the all-time series 87-69.

St. Bonaventure vs. Niagara - The Last Meeting:
Dec. 30, 2015 at the Reilly Center:  Bonnies 82, Niagara 68
Dion Wright scored a career high 28 points and Jaylen Adams had 16 points and 12 assists to lead St. Bonaventure to an 82-68 win. The Bonnies completed a sweep of their Big 4 and ended non-conference play at 8-3.Three-point shooting keyed the victory. St. Bonaventure made a season-best 12 (of 25) shots from behind the arc. Adams went 5-8 and Nelson Kaputo was 4-6. St. Bonaventure led 35-27 at halftime, but the Purple Eagles cut the deficit to two points early in the second half.  From that point on, however, the Bonnies held Niagara to just five points over a span of 8:02 to seize control.  St. Bonaventure outscored the Purple Eagles 26-5 over that stretch.

Niagara Notes:
• The Purple Eagles are 2-2 over their last four games. Wednesday, they lost in overtime at Youngstown State, 101-97. The 97 points were the most they scored this season. Shane Gatling, who averages 7.5 points per game, scored 24 points against YSU, while Kahlil Dukes added 20 points and nine assists.
• One of Niagara's three wins was at traditional MAAC power Iona by a 74-58 score on Dec. 4.
• Dukes, a 6-0 point guard who played at USC before transferring to Niagara, averages 16.1 points per game, second best on the team, and leads Niagara in assists (36) and three-pointers (24/.421).
• Sophomore small forward Matt Scott leads Niagara in scoring at 17.7 points per game. He is another capable three-point shooter, shooting 35 percent (20-56) from long range. Scott also leads the club in rebounding (7.0).
• Nine Niagara players average more than 13 minutes per game.

Throwback Uniforms
St. Bonaventure, and all of the Big 4 teams, will wear throwback uniforms in Saturday's Big 4 Classic. Produced by AdPro Sports, the uniforms are modeled after the 1976-77 NIT championship season. Next month, they will all be auctioned off with proceeds split between the United Way of Cattaraugus County and the Danny Piccioli Fund. Piccioli is a resident of Allegany and a lifelong Bonnies fan who suffered a spinal cord injury last summer.

Adams, Gregg Nearing Career Milestones
Jaylen Adams is 37 points away from becoming the 43rd player in St. Bonaventure men's basketball history to reach 1,000 career points. Adams stands 51st on the Bonnies' all-time scoring list with 963 points. Denzel Gregg ranks fifh on St. Bonaventure's career blocks list with 99 and will become just the fifth player in program history to reach 100 career blocked shots.

Andoh Brings Offense
Like Matt Mobley, David Andoh is not "new" in the sense that he practiced with the Bonnies last season after transferring (from Liberty). Therefore, expectations were fairly high. The senior battled a stress fracture in his foot over the summer which set him back at the start of practice, but as he has gotten in better shape, Andoh has begun to show he can be very productive. Over the past five games, Andoh averaged 12 points and 5.2 rebounds, going 24-44 (.545) from the field. He scored in double figures the last four games in a row – 13 vs. Siena, 12 against Buffalo, 11 at Hofstra and a season high 15 against UNC Wilmington.

Offense Stays Hot
The Bonnies averaged 77.9 points per game last season, the best average during coach Mark Schmidt's tenure and the third-highest scoring average in the A-10. Before that, Schmidt's highest-scoring team was in 2013-14 when the Bonnies averaged 73.4 points per game. Early this season, the Bonnies have clicked on offense despite having so many new players. Led by guards Jay Adams and Matt Mobley, St. Bonaventure leads the A-10 and ranks 34th nationally in scoring at 82.9 points per game. The Bonnies have reached the 90-point mark three times including a 102-point showing in the win over Central Michigan.

Getting On The Glass
Not being the tallest team, nor the most experienced on its front line, has not meant that St. Bonaventure is not an effective rebounding team. In fact, the Bonnies lead the A-10 and rank 29th nationally in offensive rebounds at 13.4 per game. They are also are third in the conference in rebounding margin (+3.4 per game). St. Bonaventure has won the rebounding battle in six of its nine games and is 4-2 when outrebounding its opponent.

Three-Point Production
With two high-scoring guards leading its offense, it is not surprising that St. Bonaventure is a strong three-point shooting team. Jaylen Adams and Matt Mobley are tied for second in the Atlantic 10 in three-pointers per game (3.0) and as a team, the Bonnies are second in the A-10 with a .374 three-point field goal percentage. The past three games, St. Bonaventure was a combined 22-48 (.458) from long range.

Mobley Sprints Out Of Gate
By any measure, Matt Mobley is off to a fantastic start to his debut season at St. Bonaventure. The 6-3 junior guard has shown no signs of rust after he sat out last year as a transfer from Central Connecticut State. Mobley is fourth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring (20.6 points per game) and is second in the A-10 in three-point field goals (3.0 per game). Mobley is doing much more than just scoring -- he is also averaging 7.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. He is sixth in the A-10 in rebounding, and the second-leading rebounder among A-10 guards. Mobley's production is not a surprise. He practiced with the Bonnies last season after transferring from Central Connecticut, where he averaged 17 points per game as a sophomore and was named the Northeast Conference's most improved player. Mobley had four games of 30-plus points that season.

Schmidt Nears Satalin For Second Place
Now in his 10th season as head coach at St. Bonaventure, Mark Schmidt ranks third on the program's all-time coaching wins list with 152. He is only four wins behind Jim Satalin (156) for second place. The Nov. 30 win over Siena was Schmidt's 150th at St. Bonaventure.
