The Starting FIVE NOTES + one
1.  St. Bonaventure hosts Big 4 rival Buffalo in a Saturday matinee at the Reilly Center. Both teams already have four wins in the young season and have been tested against Top 25 opponents. The Bonnies, 2-0 at the Reilly Center, come off a home win over Siena while the Bulls fell at Creighton on Tuesday.

2.  A near-sellout crowd is expected, not only for the western New York rivalry game but also to see a halftime ceremony where St. Bonaventure will retire the number 53 worn by all-time leading scorer Greg Sanders and a recognition of the 1977 NIT championship team on the 40th anniversary of its title.

3.  One of the top 50 candidates for the John Wooden Award, Bonnies junior point guard Jaylen Adams is fourth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring (20 points per game) and second in assists (5.8). He scored 27 points, including 16 in the second half, in the win over Siena on Wednesday.

4.  Junior guard Matt Mobley is off to a fantastic start to his debut season at St. Bonaventure. Mobley, who sat out last year after transferring from Central Connecticut State, stands second in the A-10 in scoring (22.7 points per game) and three-pointers (3.5 per game). He has five 20-point games and recorded the first double-double of his career in the win over Pepperdine.

5.  Senior Denzel Gregg had double-doubles in three straight games, helping key three wins. Gregg is averaging 11.8 points and a team-high 7.0 rebounds per game.

6.  Senior forward David Andoh scored a season-high 13 points against Siena. Slowed by a foot injury in the preseason, Andoh has made more of an impact the past two weeks.

St. Bonaventure vs. Buffalo - The Last Meeting:
Dec. 2, 2016 at Alumni Arena: Bonnies 60, Buffalo 58
Marcus Posley had made last-second game winners before. Against Buffalo at Alumni Arena, he did it again, lifting St. Bonaventure to a 60-58 win on a jumper with eight seconds left.  Posley's clutch shot ended a dry spell during which Bonnies didn't score a point from Dion Wright's layup at the 6:15 mark until the game-winner.  Wright was the star of the game, setting a (then) career high with 26 points. St. Bonaventure built its largest lead of the night at 56-47 with 7:46 remaining before its offense went cold. The Bonnies went just 2-21 from three-point range for the game. Defense offset the poor shooting, however, as Bona held Buffalo to 38 percent shooting in the second half and forced 21 UB turnovers in the game.

Buffalo Notes:
• Buffalo is 4-3 but has two losses to Top 25 teams, Xavier and Creighton, both on the road. The Bulls have been road warriors this year, playing just one home game. Buffalo went 2-1 in the Great Alaska Shootout, then traveled to Creighton where they lost 93-72.
• Coach Nate Oats, now in his second year, returned five regulars from last year's NCAA team. Small forward Blake Hamilton leads the Bulls in scoring (17.3 points per game) and is second on the team in rebounding (6.1). New point guard Davonta Jordan is averaging nearly six assists per game. Willie Connor (14.7) and Nick Perkins (12.6) are Buffalo's other top scorers.

Series Notes:
This is the seventh straight year the Big 4 rivals have met. The Bonnies have won the past two meetings and five of the six games played since 2010. Bona leads the all-time series 8-2.

Mobley Sprints Out Of Gate
By any measure, junior guard Matt Mobley is off to a fantastic start to his debut season at St. Bonaventure. Mobley, who sat out last year after transferring from Central Connecticut State, is second in the Atlantic 10 in scoring (22.7 points per game) and three-point field goals (3.5 per game). After opening the year with 21 points against St. Francis, he turned heads when he scored 28 points against Florida. He added two more 20-plus point games at the Lone Star Showcase, including his first career double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds against Pepperdine. Mobley is doing much more than just scoring -- he is also averaging 6.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. Mobley's production is not a surprise. He practiced with the Bonnies last season after transferring from Central Connecticut, where he averaged 17 points per game as a sophomore and was named the Northeast Conference's most improved player. Mobley had four games of 30-plus points that season.

Gregg Climbing Blocks Chart
Denzel Gregg ranks sixth on St. Bonaventure's career blocks list with 92. He is five behind Jerome Spellman for fifth place. Gregg has a very good chance to become just the fifth player in program history to reach 100 career blocked shots.

The Bonnies' Glue Guy
Junior Idris Taqqee brings a hard-nosed, selfless approach to the court -- often described by Bonnies coach Mark Schmidt as a "glue guy" who does all the little things necessary for success. One of the team's co-captains for the second year in a row, Taqqee blossomed last year, starting every game and averaging 5.1 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. Also a very reliable defender, he is typically assigned to the opponent's top wing. This year, Taqqee has already improved his production, averaging 7.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and nearly two assists per game in the young season.

Ayeni Shows Promise
Freshman forward Josh Ayeni earned a starting spot -- rare for a first-year player in most programs but perhaps even moreso at St. Bonaventure -- the last four games. He played very well in the Lone Star Showcase. averaging 8.6 points and 4.3 rebounds over the three games there. A late signee for the Bonnies this past summer, Ayeni is a native of Nigeria who played high school basketball at St. Frances (Md.), a team in the same league as Jaylen Adams' Mount St. Joseph.

Schmidt Reaches 150 Wins
Now in his 10th season as head coach at St. Bonaventure, Mark Schmidt ranks third on the program's all-time coaching wins list. The Nov. 30 win over Siena was his 150th at St. Bonaventure.
