#Bonnies Men's Tennis Hits the Road for Two Weekend Matches

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University men's tennis team will hit the road for a pair of matches this weekend, traveling to Siena on Friday and Saint Peter's on Saturday.

The Bonnies earned a win in its first action of the spring, defeating Loyola (Md.) on Friday, Jan. 20. The doubles team of Victor Blanco and Indra Patwardhan earned a win in their match while capturing wins in their respective singles matches. Hector Martinez got it done in three sets, winning the third in convincing fashion, 6-0. Guillermo Garcia earned a win in his singles match and also came out victorious in his doubles match with Martinez. The final doubles win came from the pair of Lukas Linden Malmberg and John Rutkowski. The Bonnies then fell to Navy, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon (Jan. 22). Indra Patwardhan earned the lone Bona win as he came out on top in No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-2.

The Siena Saints are coming off a loss to Boston University, 7-0, in their spring opener on Saturday afternoon in Boston (Jan. 21). BU started the match off with three wins in doubles to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles play. The Saints then fell on all six courts in singles as the BU Terriers completed the sweep.

The Saint Peter's University men's tennis team will open up spring play against St. Bonaventure. In the fall season, the Peacocks compiled a record of 1-3, with the lone win coming against Coppin State on Oct. 15. In that match the Peacocks took two out of the three in doubles to earn the tandem point, seeing the duos of Andres-Sebastian Rojas/Douglas Nover and Jorge Rodriguez/Ivan Knezevic both defeat their opponents 6-1. Rodriguez, Rojas, Nover, and Gabe Russotto then went on to claim victories in their matches for the Peacocks.
