Bonnies Celebrate Senior Day With 1-0 Win Over George Mason

Box Score

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Isaiah Wilson struck in the 36th minute for what turned out to be the game's only goal as the St. Bonaventure men's soccer team celebrated Senior Day with a 1-0 victory over visiting George Mason Saturday night at the Marra Athletics Complex.

Senior captain Kieran Toland linked up with freshman Nicola Bonso who found junior Isaiah Wilson on the scoring play. Wilson buried his shot into the back of the net for the lone score of the night and his third goal this season. The goal was one of Wilson's two shots on the evening, while the double assist gave Bonso his second career assist and Toland his fourth of the season.

The goal was the culmination of an aggressive first period effort for the Bonnies, who outshot the Patriots 5-3 in the first 45 minutes as part of their seven shot night.

Junior Luke Iacobellis saved two balls to give him 66 on the season, adding to his career best.

The win brings the Bonnies record to 6-8-2 overall and 2-4 in Atlantic 10 play while George Mason falls to 5-7-2.

Saturday was the continuation of a strong week for the Bonnies after picking up a road win at Duquesne on Wednesday night. With the win, the Bonnies remain in the playoff race as they now have six points in conference play. St. Bonaventure sits in a three-way tie for the league's final playoff spot.

Prior to Saturday's game, the Bonnies honored their senior class of Peter Routsis, Paul Afful, Kieran Toland and Kyle Kleckner.

St. Bonaventure now hits the road for a crucial matchup at La Salle on Saturday, Oct. 28. After Saturday's action, both La Salle and the Bonnies own six conference points. The Bonnies conclude the season at home against third-place VCU on Nov. 1.
