BLACKSBURG, Va. – The St. Bonaventure University men's tennis team dropped both matches in a doubleheader Saturday at Virginia Tech, falling to Atlantic 10 foe Davidson on neutral ground in the morning's action and against the host VT in the afternoon.
Hector Martinez earned the lone Bona win against Davidson as he came out on top at No. 2 singles in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4.
In No. 3 singles, Guillermo Garcia forced three sets in a tough second-set win, coming out on top, 6-7. However, he fell in the third set, 6-3.
The No. 5 singles match featuring Lukas Linden Malmberg saw a competitive second set, but it ultimately tipped Davidson's way, 7-6, for Thomas Mason.
Martinez continued his strong play against Virginia Tech. He neatly forced a third set in No. 2 singles, but fell, 7-5, in the second set.
Malmberg played his opponent close in No. 5 singles, but dropped the second set 6-4.
The Bonnies will be in action next on Friday, Feb. 17 as they travel to Youngstown State.
