WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University men's tennis team defeated Niagara in convincing fashion Sunday, 6-1, grabbing wins in five singles matches while also securing the doubles point.
Sunday's triumph improves the Bonnies to 7-12 overall on the season.
In singles action, Victor Blanco, Indra Patwardhan, Lukas Linden Malmberg, and John Rutkowski all put in strong showings by winning in straight sets in their respective matches.
In No. 2 singles, Hector Martinez dropped the first set, but showed perseverance and rallied to take the final two sets to earn a win, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles, the pairs of Martinez and Blanco, and Malmberg and Patwardhan both showed resilience as they captured wins in close hard fought matches. Both pairs came away with 7-6 victories.
The Brown and White will return to action next Saturday, April 1, as they travel to take on the Hawks of Saint Joseph's in an Atlantic 10 matchup.
