KINGSTON, R.I. – An impressive second half and a balanced scoring attack highlighted by five players in double figures led the St. Bonaventure women's basketball team back in a come-from-behind victory at Rhode Island, 77-72, Wednesday night at the Ryan Center.

Mariah Ruff netted 15 of her 17 points during the second half, 13 of which came during the fourth quarter as the Bonnies erased what was a 12-point Rams lead during the second half.

Danielle Migliore finished with 17 points, eight rebounds, three steals and three assists. Arielle Harvey contributed 15 points while Jalisha Terry pitched in 14 points off the bench and Emily Calabrese narrowly missed a double-double, posting 10 points and nine rebounds.

Rhode Island (3-24, 1-14 A-10) controlled the early going, stretching its lead to 13 points four minutes into the second quarter. The Rams lead remained at 40-28 following a three-pointer from Abby Streeter with 5:53 left in the third.

The Bonnies (8-20, 3-12) refused to quit, however, and received a huge momentum boost as the third quarter came to a close.

Down by eight, 51-43, inside a minute to play in the third, Terry's layup off a feed from Rhianna Council began the comeback. As the quarter expired, Migliore fired up a heave from mid-court that rained home as the buzzer sounded, sending the teams to the final 10 minutes with Rhode Island's lead at only 51-48.

A quick trey from Ruff on the first possession of the final quarter set the tone, tying the game at 51-all. She followed that with another bucket from long range on the next trip to give Bona its first lead, 54-51.

From there, the Bonnies never trailed again.

The visitors netted 29 points during the fourth quarter alone as part of a 55-point second half, the largest scoring output by the Bonnies in a half this season. After halftime, the Bonnies shot 54 percent from the floor.

It was still just a one-point game, 62-61, when Nicole Jorgensen put home a layup to bring the Rams within a point.

Ruff answered again, however, drilling another three off an assist from Migliore with three minutes to go.

The score remained the same until the 2:27 mark when a bucket by Marta Vargas cut the Bona lead to 65-63, but two free throws from Harvey followed by another long range blast by Migliore pushed the lead to 70-63 with just 1:41 to go.

Rhode Island got back within 73-70 with 21 seconds showing on the clock, but the Rams could not convert on their possession with a chance to tie or get within one.

Two clutch free throws by Ruff pushed the advantage back to two possessions before another Rhode Island bucket brought to score to 75-72 with 10 seconds left after a layup by Amari Johnson.

Ruff iced the game with two more at the line with seven seconds remaining.

Jorgensen led all scorers with 27 points, also adding 13 rebounds, for Rhode Island.

The Bonnies return home for the regular season finale Saturday afternoon. St. Bonaventure will play host to Duquesne at 2 p.m. and will honor its lone senior – Mariah Ruff – prior to the game.
