PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The St. Bonaventure University men's tennis team won the doubles point in each match, but ultimately dropped a pair of matches against Saint Francis (PA) and Duquesne on Friday and Saturday.
The Bonnies were defeated by the Red Flash, 4-3, and bested by the Dukes, 5-2.
Against Saint Francis (PA), the pair of Victor Blanco and Lukas Linden Malmberg defeated Alec Dylan Foo-Kunes and Jan Vit Suntar, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles. Guillermo Garcia and Ante Zovko were also victorious in doubles, taking down Franz Luna and Sebastian Pinos, 6-1.
Malmberg also triumphed in singles action, beating Eduardo Garcia in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. John Rutkowski won his match at No. 6 singles against Suntar, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Blanco and Malmberg were winners again against Duquesne, defeating Chris Corrao and Dominic Lea, 7-6. Garcia and Zovko followed that up with their second win of the weekend, besting Adam Blasinsky and Joey Matthews, 6-2.
Malmberg earned his fourth victory of the weekend by defeating Lea at No. 5 singles in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
The Bonnies are off until the 2018 Atlantic 10 Championships at Lake Nona, Fla. This year's championships run April 25-27.
