ORLANDO, Fla. – The St. Bonaventure University men's tennis team forced a pair of set tiebreakers in doubles and battled in two three-set matches in singles but fell to Duquesne, 4-0, in the first round of the 2018 Atlantic 10 Championships.
The duo of Victor Blanco and Lukas Linden Malmberg forced a tiebreak at No. 1 doubles but the match was not finished. Guillermo Garcia and Ante Zovko also forced a tiebreak in their double match at the No. 2 spot, but were defeated by Adam Blasinsky and Drew Akins, 7-6.
In singles action, Blanco and John Rutkowski both played in three-set matches at No. 1 and No. 6, respectively. Blanco grabbed the first set 6-2, but Blasinsky captured the last two, 6-2, 6-4 to secure the match. Rutkowski, however, battled back from a set down to force the third set, falling 6-1, 0-6, 6-4.
