Bonnies Tripped Up At La Salle, 2-1

PHILADELPHIA – The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team fell to La Salle, 2-1, on the road Saturday evening.

St. Bonaventure scored early, but La Salle would answer with the game's final two scores.

Bona's Luca Nicastro opened the scoring in the 19th minute off a feed from Peter Massaquoi, giving the Bonnies an early 1-0 lead. The marker was Nicastro's second goal of the season.

La Salle (3-5-2, 2-1-0 A-10), however, wasted no time getting the equalizing goal.

Just a minute after the Bonnies grabbed the lead, La Salle's Omari Cotterell found the back of the net, tying the contest.

The Explorers pushed ahead early in the second half when Nigel Buckley finished low and right of the net in the 57th minute with what would be the game-winner.

The Bonnies (3-6-1, 0-3-0 A-10) put pressure on the Explorers defense early when Rafael Pereira put a shot on net, but it was saved by the La Salle goalkeeper.

Bonnies junior goalkeeper Jules Dechert returned to the starting lineup after missing the previous six games with an injury, making three saves.

The Bonnies return home to host No. 18 Dayton Wednesday, Oct. 5 at the Marra Athletics Complex. Kickoff is slated for 4:00 p.m.
