Bonnies Fall To Duquesne In Non-Conference Action

PITTSBURGH – The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team fell to Duquesne, 5-1, Wednesday evening in a non-conference match in Pittsburgh.

The Dukes opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a goal on Ask Ekeland's shot from the top of the box.

The Bonnies wasted little time scoring the equalizer as David Cubillos gathered a loose ball being bounced around the box and punched home the goal in the 26th, tying the game at 1-1. For Cubillos, it marked his first career goal for the Brown and White.

Shortly after in the 31st minute, Duquesne's Ekeland scored his second goal of the game to give the hosts back the lead, 2-1.

The Dukes netted a third goal by way of Christoffer Angell under a minute later, giving Duquesne a two-goal advantage.

Duquesne (9-1-3, 3-0-2 A-10) added a fourth first half goal when Tom Tzabari sent a shot in from the top of the box in the 38th minute. Maxi Hopfer capped off the Duquesne scoring in the 56th minute, giving the Dukes the non-conference victory.

The Bonnies (3-8-2, 0-4-1 A-10) are back in action Saturday, Oct. 15 on the road at UMass. Kickoff is slated for 12:00 p.m.
