ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure men's basketball head coach Mark Schmidt has announced the first official commitment for the Bonnies 2023 recruiting class as 6-foot-4 guard Miles Rose has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the program this summer.
A native of Rochester, Rose joins the Putnam Science Academy Bonnies pipeline as he has donned the Mustangs colors at PSA for the past two seasons.
"We are thrilled with the addition of Miles and his family to the program. He is an athletic and strong scoring combo guard who we think fits our system perfectly," Schmidt said. "We've obviously had a lot of recent success with guys from Putnam Science Academy; they run it like a college program and really coach the guys up. It's also always exciting to add local talent, this time from Rochester. Miles will be ready to play and we expect him to contribute right away next season."
Rose began his high school career in Rochester at Bishop Kearney, earning First Team All-League honors in 2020. He transferred to PSA and reclassified to the Class of 2023 and was part of an undefeated national championship team there last season.
After not playing in his first season at PSA, he averaged four points and three rebounds for a squad that sent multiple older guards to the Division I level after finishing 38-0 last year. He is expected to be the Mustangs' starting point guard this year.
He previously played AAU ball with the New York Jayhawks and Adidas 3SSB, posting 9.6 points per contest. Rose is also a former football player.
Rose follows a few previous Putnam alums who Bonnies fans might recognize: Kyle Lofton and Osun Osunniyi each were part of a PSA National Prep Championship winner in 2018 and current Bona's freshman Barry Evans played on last year's championship team before coming to Western New York and was teammates with Rose a season ago.
