ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University men's tennis team picked up its first victory of the season, 4-3, over Saint Francis (PA) Sunday morning at the SBU Tennis Center.

The Bonnies began the morning by taking the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Stijn Paardekooper and Marco Rivolo teamed up for a 7-6 win over Marc Fuste and Fabio Varella at No. 1. At the No. 2 spot, Norka Sanchez and Jean Marrero best Sebastian Pinos and Christian Banti, 6-3, securing the point for the Bonnies.

Marrero, Sanchez and Will Schneideman each won in singles to secure the team win for the Bonnies. Sanchez and Schneideman defeated their opponents in straight sets while Marrero battled back from a set down to win, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, over Fuste at No. 2 singles.

The Bonnies improve to 1-3 on the season while Saint Francis falls to 1-6.

Bona's is back in action Saturday, Feb. 19 at home against Buffalo. That match is slated to start at 12:00 p.m.
