PITTSBURGH – Abby Hiltz scored twice and posted four points for the St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team, but Pitt would prevail Sunday afternoon, 22-8.
The Bonnies opened the scoring quickly.
Annie Dombrowski delivered her first goal of the year just 22 seconds into the game, taking a pass from Hiltz and depositing it into the net to set early tone for the contest.
Pitt (3-0) answered back on a free position goal just over a minute later, but the Bonnies surged ahead on goals from Kassi Hogan and Madison Mundenar, the latter assisted by Maddie Mazur, for a 3-1 advantage at the 11:31 mark of the first.
The Panthers roared in front, though, by scoring five consecutive goals before the end of the opening 15 minutes for a 6-3 advantage after a quarter.
Courtney Fox won the opening draw of the second quarter, allowing the Bonnies to set up their offense. Nora Anderson then ended the Panthers run with her second goal of the year, assisted by Hiltz, to draw within 6-4.
Pitt would post eight of the game's next nine goals, however, to take a 14-5 lead to halftime. From there, the hosts never looked back.
Hogan scored twice on a team-high five shots.
Paige Petty, An All-American transfer from Virginia Tech, scored four goals for the first-year Panthers. Madisyn Kittell, a transfer from Florida, also tallied four scores for the hosts.
Tori Nascimento netted her first career goal and Mazur won four draw controls for the Bonnies.
St. Bonaventure makes its 2022 home debut at the Marra Athletics Complex Saturday afternoon by hosting Colgate at 3 p.m.
