ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women's lacrosse team fell, 22-4, at home against UMass in its conference opener Friday evening.
UMass took control of the game early, scoring seven goals to Bonaventure's one in the first period.
Kassi Hogan netted her 10
th goal of the season off a free-position shot with 36 seconds left in the first period.
St. Bonaventure would score three more goals before halftime coming off the sticks of
Sarah Owens (man-up),
Madison Mundenar (free-position), and
Maddie Mazur.
The Minutewomen (7-2) continued to pour it on recording nine second half goals and holding the Bonnies scoreless.
Charlotte Wilmoth (six goals), Julia Smith (two goals), Tessa Shields (two goals), and Haley Connaughton (three assists) were very impactful for UMass.
Sophomore
Abby Hiltz tallied the lone assist for the Bonnies in the game, bringing her point total to 15 on the season.
In the cage
Ashley Herrick finished the game with 13 saves, while
Hayley McIntyre played the fourth period and made two saves.
Senior goalkeeper Gina Carroll got the win for UMass, recording four saves.
The Bonnies will remain at home to take on Saint Joseph's on Sunday, March 27. Game time is scheduled for noon.
