Bonnies Drop Final Two Games of Rhode Island Series

KINGSTON, R.I. – The St. Bonaventure baseball team dropped the final two games of a three-game series at Rhode Island over the weekend.

Rhode Island (7-23, 4-2 A-10) took game two, 9-3, before winning the rubber game, 13-1. St. Bonaventure won the opener Friday, 6-4, in 11 innings.

The Rams took control Saturday with a run in the second and two each in the third and fourth, adding three runs of insurance in the sixth.

Jackson DeJohn got the Bonnies on the board with a run-scoring groundout in the fifth. The Bonnies grabbed two runs in the ninth, one on a wild pitch and another on a single to right off the bat of Danny Manion.

Thomas Grilli had two hits in three trips to the plate.

St. Bonaventure (2-20, 1-5) led early in the finale, grabbing a run in the first on an RBI single from Matthew Williams.

Rhode Island tied the game in the third, and took the lead with two in the fourth. Three runs in the fifth and six in the sixth blew the game open for the hosts.

The Bonnies are back in action by returning home for their next four games this week. First St. Bonaventure welcomes local rival Canisius Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. Davidson then visits Friday through Sunday for a three-game Atlantic 10 series.
