ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Eight runs across the third and fourth innings sent Dayton to victory over the St. Bonaventure baseball team Sunday inside Handler Park at McGraw-Jennings Field, 11-4.
The Bonnies won each of the first two games of the series Saturday, but the hopes for a series sweep were vanquished as the Flyers scored five times in the third and three more in the fourth. Dayton then tacked on insurance with a run each in the fifth and sixth.
Bona's picked up run-scoring hits from Jack Putney and Danny Manion as well as groundouts from Jagger Nucci and Matthew Williams which also pushed home runs.
Manion posted three hits while Putney, Williams, Garrett Boldt and Jackson DeJohn all had two hits apiece. SBU finished with 11 hits in all, but left eight men on base.
Marcos Pujols had three hits and drove in five runs to power the Dayton offense.
St. Bonaventure now breaks for finals week and will be at Fordham for a three-game Atlantic 10 weekend series beginning Friday in the Bronx.
