Talented Bonnies Recruiting Class Grows With Addition of NEC Rookie of the Year Anquan Hill

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure men's basketball team gained another impressive addition with transfer forward Anquan Hill, the 2022 Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year, signing a grant-in-aid to join the Bonnies program.

"Anquan can really impact the game at both ends of the floor.  He had a successful freshman season, but we think he is just scratching the surface of his ability," head coach Mark Schmidt said. "Anquan can play multiple positions.  He brings length and extreme versatility to the frontcourt.  We expect him to make an immediate impact for us next season.  Our program is excited to welcome him into the Bonaventure family!"

Hill comes to St. Bonaventure after spending his freshman season at Fairleigh Dickinson where he took the top rookie honors in the NEC following his first collegiate campaign. A three-time NEC Rookie of the Week as well, he started 17 of 26 games played including 14 of the final 15 while averaging 7.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 24 minutes per contest. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-9, 195-pound Philadelphia native led the Knights in rebounding and also blocked nearly a shot per game. He also ranked second on the team in scoring during NEC play.

Hill continued to get stronger as his first season went on. For the year, he scored in double figures nine times, with each of those performances coming in the final 13 games of the season. He tallied a season-best 21 points vs. Sacred Heart and also logged a pair of double-doubles.

He played his high school ball at Archbishop Carroll where he averaged 17 points per game and led his league on the boards with 13 rebounds per contest, also adding three blocks per game. He was a Pennsylvania All-State selection and second team All-Catholic League honoree.

St. Bonaventure becomes the only Division I program to add two Rookie of the Year selections from last year via transfer as Hill joins Patriot League Rookie of the Year Kyrell Luc as newcomers to the Bonnies this fall.

Bona's now has 11 scholarship players on the roster for the upcoming season: in addition to Hill and Luc, the recruiting class includes freshman wings Barry Evans and Yann Farell, transfer guards Moses Flowers (Hartford) and Daryl Banks III (Saint Peter's) as well as transfer forward Chad Venning (Morgan State) and center Max Amadasun (Pittsburgh). Three players return from last year's roster: sophomore guard Justin Ndjock-Tadjore and redshirts Brett Rumpel and Anouar Mellouk.
