A pair of St. Bonaventure baseball players have earned selection to the New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL) All-Star Game as pitchers Liam Devine and Luke Roggenburk were both picked following their efforts so far this summer.
Both athletes have helped key a strong summer from the local Olean Oilers who own a league-best 20-10 record as of July 8.
Devine, who earned his Bonaventure undergraduate degree in May, ranks third among all NYCBL qualified pitchers in ERA this summer at 2.12. The Canadian native has struck out 40 batters in 29.2 innings across five starts with a perfect 5-0 record. The southpaw has also issued just 11 free passes while holding opponents to a .202 batting average against him.
Roggenburk, a rising sophomore from Ohio, is 2-2 with a 3.45 ERA in five starts including 31 strikeouts and just 10 walks in 28.2 innings of work.
He also has done work with a bat in his hands for Oilers as well, posting six hits in 11 at-bats with nine RBIs.
The NYCBL All-Star Game will be held Monday, July 11 and both Bonnies will play as part of the Western Division team.
