The St. Bonaventure University women's soccer team will take on Little Three rival Niagara for their fourth straight road matchup this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. On Sunday, the Bonnies will make their home debut against Eastern Michigan. Sunday's kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Marra Athletics Field Complex.
OPENING WEEK RESULTS
- The Bonnies opened up the 2022 season with a pair of draws on the road last week.
- In their season opener at Marist on Thursday, St. Bonaventure ended with a 2-2 draw.
- Freshman Ami Komori scored her first collegiate goal along with a goal from graduate forward Cristina Torres, while seniors Christine Napoli and Kenzie Tarmino both tallied an assist.
- On Sunday the Bonnies played to a scoreless draw at Cleveland State led by sophomore goalkeeper Chiara Gottinger's 11 saves.
- Komori recorded four shots for St. Bonaventure Sunday afternoon.
GOTTINGER TAKES TOP A-10 DEFENSIVE HONORS
- For her great start to the season between the pipes, Gottinger was honored as the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week.
- During the first two games of the season for the Bonnies, the second-year goalkeeper recorded 20 saves, allowing two goals and earning a shutout.
- At Marist, the Pirching am Traubenberg, Austria native racked up nine saves with an 82 percent save percentage.
- Gottinger would then match her career-high in saves with 11 on Sunday while recording a clean sheet in a scoreless tie at Cleveland State.
- This marks the seventh shutout of her young career as the net protector for the Brown and White, putting her in a tie for seventh all-time in Bonnies career shutouts.
ABOUT NIAGARA
- The Purple Eagles finished the 2021 season with an overall record of 13-4-1 overall and 7-3-0 in conference play to earn the third seed in the MAAC Championships.
- Niagara fell in the MAAC Championships to Fairfield via penalty kicks, 5-4.
- Senior forward Djeynaba Thiam (2021 stats: Second on team with eight goals and 22 points) and graduate defender Ida Miceli (2021 All-MAAC First Team) were both named to the Preseason All-MAAC Team.
- In net sophomore goalkeeper Felicia Grufman made 38 saves a season ago.
- Niagara is projected to finish second in the MAAC with 99 points, according to the 2022 preseason coaches' poll
- In their season opener on Sunday, the Purple Eagles were defeated 4-1 at Buffalo.

ABOUT EASTERN MICHIGAN
- A season ago the Eagles concluded with a 2-13-3 overall record and a conference record of 1-8-2.
- Eastern Michigan returns sophomore forward Jamie Lefebvre who tied for second on team with two goals and sophomore midfielder Maddie O'Farrell led the team with three points a year ago.
- Junior goalkeeper Rebecca Przybylo started six games in the 2021 season, recording 45 saves.
- Eastern Michigan was selected to finish 10th in the 2022 Mid-American Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- The Eagles picked up a 4-0 victory at Illinois State on Sunday.
