ST. BONAVENTURE at NAVY INVITATIONAL

The St. Bonaventure University men's tennis team serves the 2022 fall season at the Navy Invitational, beginning Friday, Sept. 16 and running through Sunday, Sept. 18.

Fairfield, Mary Washington, Morgan State, Delaware, Saint Joseph's, Richmond, Fairleigh Dickinson and George Mason will also be competing alongside the Bonnies and Navy.

"We have had some good practices the past couple weeks," Bonnies head coach Mike Bates said. "We are going to get a good indication of where we are at and what we need to work on. We want to play tough teams to help us get ready for the spring season."

Action begins Friday at 10:00 a.m. while competition on Saturday and Sunday gets started at 9:00 a.m.

Coach Bates returns five players from last year's squad. Returning are seniors Luke Riemann and Filip Morawski as well as juniors Jean Marrero, Norka Sanchez and Luke Young.

Sanchez tallied 11 singles victories for the Bonnies in 2021-22 while Marrero registered seven victories. Reimann added four wins for the Bonnies while Morawski had one.

"There are a lot of changes from last year's roster," Bates said. "We lost one athlete to graduation and a few to the portal who helped us a lot. With four freshmen this year it will be different with plenty of learning experiences to come."

Coach Bates welcomes four newcomers to the roster for 2022-23. Joining the Bonnies are Hugo Cochlin (Cardiff, Wales), Anargha Ganguly (Pune, India), Rasmus Egehus (Rungsted, Denmark) and Connor Turner (Bournemouth, United Kingdom).

FALL OUTLOOK
Following the Navy Invitational, the Bonnies are off until Sept. 30 when they travel to the Army Invitational in West Point, N.Y.

Coach Bates then takes select players to the ITA Regionals Oct. 7-9 this year.

The Bonnies wrap up the fall season at the Bloomsburg Invitational Oct. 15-16.
