ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The St. Bonaventure University men's tennis team got its fall schedule underway at the Navy Invitational this past weekend.

The Bonnies were led in singles action by freshman Connor Turner who registered three wins in his first collegiate action. Turner earned straight set victories over Morgan State's Charles Wood, 6-4, 6-0, and George Mason's Hayden Postin, 7-6, 6-2. He capped off his weekend with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Navy's Cy McLeod.

Junior Jean Marrero as well as freshmen Hugo Cochlin and Anargha Ganguly also paced the Bonnies, registering a pair of wins each for the Brown and White.

Cochlin bested Mary Washington's Nick Spera in his first match, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, before taking down Bertin Karenzi form Morgan State in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Ganguly was victorious over Makkijha Brown from Morgan State, 6-3, 6-2, and defeated Fairfield's Andrew Immink, 6-3, 6-0.

Marrero was tested against Andrew Watson from Mary Washington, battling back from a set down to win, 4-6, 7-6, 10-2. He earned a second victory after his opponent withdrew.

Norka Sanchez and Luke Riemann also picked up wins in singles play for the Bonnies.

In doubles action, Marrero and Rasmus Egehus tallied three wins to lead the Brown and White. The pair took down George Mason's duo of Rihik Sardana and Momin Khan, 6-4, and then beat Martial Kawunde and Rhaizon Rankins from Morgan State, 6-0. Marrero and Egehus won their final match after the doubles team from Navy withdrew.

Cochlin and Turner also paired up for a doubles victory over Alvaro Pedraza and Monil Lotlikar from George Mason, 6-4. Sanchez and Reimann teamed up for a 6-1 win over the Navy pair of Aniketh Ayinala and Jeffrey Etterbeek.

The Bonnies are back in action Friday, Sept. 30 at the Army Invitational in West Point, N.Y.
