Bonnies Welcome George Mason, UMass For Pair of Home Matchups

The St. Bonaventure University women's soccer team will host George Mason on Thursday, Sept. 29. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. Then, the Bonnies welcome UMass to the Marra Athletics Complex Sunday, Oct. 2 for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
 
Thursday's game will bring the Bonnies' celebration of 50 years of Title IX. All Bonnies women's student-athletes will be honored during an on-field ceremony at halftime.

ATOP GOALKEEPER RANKS
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Chiara Gottinger currently sits second in the nation with 91 total saves, trailing only Ashley Maribo (99 saves) of Delaware State.
  • The Pirching am Traubenberg, Austria native has tallied 8.27 saves per game which is good for fourth in the nation and first in the Atlantic 10.
  • The second-year goalkeeper also ranks 19th in the nation and first in the A-10 with an 87 percent save percentage.
 
ABOUT GEORGE MASON
  • George Mason holds a 1-7-3 overall record with an 0-2-1 record in conference play.
  • The Patriots are led by Sarah DeWitt and Zoë Vidaurre who have each scored two goals this season.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Selamawit Caldart has recorded 60 saves.
  • George Mason dropped its last game at Fordham, 2-1, on Sunday.
  • The Patriots are projected to finish 12th in the conference, according to the 2022 Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Preseason Poll.
  • Last season the Bonnies fell, 1-0, at George Mason.
 
ABOUT UMASS
  • UMass is currently 2-5-5 overall and 1-1-2 in A-10 play.
  • Lauren Bonavita has tallied nine goals this season, while Ella Curry has netted two goals.
  • In net Megan Olszewski (25 saves) and Bella Mendoza (26 saves) have both played in eight games this year.
  • The Minutewomen were defeated, 2-1, against Dayton this past Sunday.
  • UMass was selected to place fifth with 170 points in the 2022 Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Preseason Poll.
  • The Bonnies had a pair of matchups against UMass last season, finishing with a scoreless double-overtime draw during the 2021 regular season and falling 5-1 in the first round of the A-10 Tournament.
  • The Minutewomen will host Duquesne this Thursday.
