POWELLS POINT, N.C. – A tough final day sent the St. Bonaventure golf team to a 12th-place finish in the fall finale at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate held on Kilmarlic Golf Club.

The Bonnies recorded a team score of 917 for the 54-hole, three-day event. SBU opened with a first round 300 on Sunday and improved to 296 on Monday. A final round tally of 321 forced Bona's down the leaderboard, however, as they would place 12th out of 15 teams. The Bonnies were able to finish five shots ahead of Atlantic 10 rival Saint Joseph's, but La Salle was the top-finishing A-10 squad in the field as the Explorers took seventh (886). Drexel was the team champion by 13 shots over Old Dominion with a winning score of 854.

Graduate student Lance Sininger paced the Bonnies as he tied for 29th in the field of 76 players. He moved into the top 10 after an opening round of 3-over 74 before an even par card of 71 on Monday. He wrapped with 78 on Tuesday for a 223 total of 10-over for the week. He played the par 5s in 6-under for the week, third-best in the field.

Like his teammate, sophomore Michael Bucko opened the day in a tie for eighth individually after a stellar round of 1-under 70 on Monday after an opening round 75. He would settle for a final day 82 for a 227 total. Bucko played the par 5s in 3-under during the tournament.

Also in the lineup for the Bonnies were seniors Jude Cummings (75-81-78/234) and Peter Byrne (76-78-83/237) and sophomore Caleb Decker (79-77-85/241).

Despite the final round struggles, the 12th-place finish remains the best for the Bonnies in the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate in four trips since 2019.

Sininger finished the fall with a team-best stroke average of 72.1 while Bucko was second on the squad at 73.4. Both players earned Atlantic 10 Golfer of the Week honors during the fall season as well.

The Bonnies will return to the state of North Carolina to open the spring season March 11-12 in the Ross Collegiate Classic at Mid-Pines Golf Club.
