10/6/2023 12:30:00 PM

ST. BONAVENTURE (3-4-5, 2-2-1 A-10) at UMASS (7-3-3, 4-1-1 A-10)
Sunday, Oct. 8 – 1:00 p.m.
Amherst, Mass.
TV: ESPN+

The St. Bonaventure women's soccer team continues play on the road as they go head-to-head with first-place Massachusetts on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies fell to Richmond last Sunday, 2-1. St. Bonaventure took a 1-0 lead in the first off a penalty kick from Olivia Allen, but the Spiders made a second half push to take down the Bonnies in Virginia.

ATLANTIC 10 STANDINGS
The Bona's squad sits just outside the playoff picture in ninth with seven points. Their 2-2-1 A-10 record puts them one point behind Saint Joseph's, Rhode Island, and Fordham. Saint Louis and Massachusetts are atop the leaderboard with 13 points apiece. Last year, it took 13 points to qualify for the Atlantic 10 Tournament.

DOWN THE STRETCH
Looking ahead, the Bonnies are set to play three of their last four games at home after Sunday's matchup. So far, the Brown and White have gone 1-2-3 at home with a win over Niagara. Their opponents for the upcoming home games include Rhode Island (2-5-5, 2-1-2), VCU (3-7-3, 2-3-1), and George Washington (3-7-3, 0-5-1).

MINUTEWOMEN NOTES
Massachusetts has a 7-3-3 overall record with a 4-1-1 conference mark. Their lone conference loss (1-0) came at Dayton on Sept. 17. Most recently, the Minutewomen earned a 4-1 victory over Loyal Chicago.

Junior Bella Recinos had a goal and an assist in the match to make her the top offensive producer on the team with 15 points. Bella Mendoza has been a steady force in net for UMass recording a .747 goals against average and a .862 save percentage both of which are good for third in the A-10.

The Bonnies last defeated the Minutewomen in 2012 in a 1-0 double overtime victory at the Marra Athletics Complex. UMass took a 1-0 win over the Bona's squad last year, but in 2021 the teams played to a 0-0 draw after two overtime periods before the NCAA eliminated regular season overtime following the 2021 season.
