Box Score ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – When the St. Bonaventure men's basketball team last saw game action Wednesday night, it took six minutes before the first field goal went through the net.

The Bonnies would have no such woes Saturday afternoon as the offense broke out in a big way by rolling wire-to-wire past visiting Miami (OH), 90-60, in the Reilly Center.

St. Bonaventure (4-2) posted 14 points in the first five minutes of the contest and started 6-for-8 from the floor in the early going to set the tone for what was to come.

The Bonnies shot a blistering 55 percent from the floor and drilled 11 3-pointers while dominating in all facets: they had a +20 rebounding margin and delivered 46 paint points. From the time Daryl Banks III drained a 3-ball on the game's first possession, the hosts never trailed.

Banks broke out of his early season shooting funk, going 6-for-7 from the floor and 4-for-5 from deep as he registered 16 points. Ironically, it was three blocks on the defensive end that he credited for giving him the momentum to start rolling offensively.

Five Bonnies scored in double figures: Charles Pride had a game-high 18 points, also hauling in seven rebounds, Noel Brown delivered a career-best 16 points and seven boards, Chad Venning posted 14 points and six rebounds and Mika Adams-Woods chipped in 11 points and eight assists.

After the Bonnies opened the game on a 23-9 run, Miami closed within 28-18 at the under-8 media timeout.

From there, though, the Bonnies held the RedHawks scoreless for the remainder of the half as they embarked on an 18-0 run to the break for a 46-18 halftime cushion.

The Bonnies never looked back in the second half, stretching their advantage to as much as 36 points.

Darweshi Hunter led Miami (2-3) with 17 points.

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH MARK SCHMIDT
"We shot the ball much better from the perimeter. We had 20 assists and nine turnovers. But the thing I'm proud of is we had 46 points in the paint. Noel came off the bench and really provided a lift. We got the ball inside, we shared the ball and we outrebounded them by 20 which has been a big emphasis for us."

"We played with energy, with enthusiasm. We shared the ball, and that's how we have to continue to play. We have to get better, we have things to work on, but we took a step in the right direction today."

"Guys have slumps. The game is 30-odd games long. Some guys have a slump in the beginning, middle, or the end of the year. He just had his in the beginning. It's not like he can't shoot. He's proven he can shoot. A guy like Daryl, you just let him go and he'll figure it out. And he did today."

"Noel had his best game today in terms of numbers, but he's brought us great energy. He's been a great addition."

QUOTES FROM BONNIES STUDENT-ATHLETES
"This week I got in the gym and got a lot of reps in. My teammates and coaches have a lot of faith in me and that gives a lot of confidence. Coaches tell me if my shots aren't falling, I have to impact the game in other ways and today I got a couple blocks and that got me going; really got my energy up."

"Noel is a great piece for us. He helps us with a lot of energy and wisdom, he's a guy with a lot of experience. He's really strong in the paint and has been a great addition for us." – Daryl Banks III

"I feel like it's a great fit. I don't think we're close to our final form. I think we'll be an even better fit together in two or three weeks. We're always trying to figure out how we can be better together."

"This year I'm focusing on just playing as hard as I can, impacting the game however I can. Whether it's getting a rebound, getting points, setting a good screen, it's just wherever I can help. I'm trying to bring my best effort every game." – Noel Brown
