BRONX, N.Y. – The magic for the Fordham Rams in this 2022-23 season continued Wednesday night while for the Bonnies, it remained a search for answers as Fordham came away with an 78-63 win at a raucous Rose Hill Gym.
Chad Venning led the Bonnies with 15 points while Kyrell Luc chipped in 13 points and eight assists.
Fordham improves to 21-5 overall and 9-4 in Atlantic 10 play while the Bonnies fall to 13-14, 7-7. Â
Fordham's rowdy crowd had much to cheer about from the outset as the Rams started the game on a 9-2 run over the opening 2:18, prompting a quick Bona timeout.
The Bonnies responded, though, tying the game up at 15-all at the second media timeout.
The visitors would move ahead, 24-20, with just over eight minutes left before the half, but Fordham would then embark on a game-changing run.
Fordham scored 17 of the next 21 points after falling behind and went to half up seven.
The Bonnies got a layup from Venning out of the locker room and closed to within 44-39 following free throws Daryl Banks III before the first media timeout of the second half.
Bona would never get closer, however.
Fordham surged again and soon its lead was 60-44. The Rams would ultimately stretch their lead to 20 as the half went on, never relinquishing control.
Darius Quisenberry posted 15 points to lead Fordham's balanced offensive attack. Quisenberry was the only Fordham player in double figures, but the Rams received scoring contributions from 10 different players.
St. Bonaventure returns home to host George Washington Sunday afternoon at the Reilly Center as part of Homecoming Weekend on campus. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m.
