The 14-seed St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team is set for its first round matchup of the 2023 Atlantic 10 Tournament against 11-seed Davidson Wednesday, March 1.
OPENING TIP
- The Bonnies fell to Richmond in the regular season finale at the Robins Center Saturday evening, 87-45.
- I'yanna Lops paced the Bonnies with a 16-point, 13-rebound double-double, her fourth of the season and second during Atlantic 10 play. Lops also blocked three shots and nabbed two steals.
- The Bonnies are looking for their first win in that Atlantic 10 Tournament since 2014 when they defeated La Salle in the first round, 54-42.
CLIMBING THE RANKS
- Senior I'yanna Lops moved into sole possession of second place all-time on the Bonnies block list with 124 career rejections, passing Vachelle Manly, '92, who blocked 123 shots during her career. Only Katie Healy, '16, has registered more career blocks than Lops with 155 rejections.
- Lops has 19 games during her Bonnies career with three or more blocks while also registering four games with five or more. Earlier this season at Bucknell, Lops set the program single game record with seven blocks.
- As a team, the Bonnies have blocked 117 shots this season, sitting second all-time for a single season in program history.
DOWNTOWN BONNIES
- As a team this season, the Bonnies have made 187 3-pointers which ranks seventh in program history for a single season. The Brown and White are just five triples away from jumping to fourth all-time.
- The Bonnies have six players that have made double digit 3-pointers this season. Nikki Oppenheimer, Maddie Dziezgowski and I'yanna Lops have all set new career-highs for threes made in a season. Oppenheimer leads the way with 46 makes while Dziezgowski has registered 40. Lops is third on the team with 28 3-pointers.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Bonnies and Wildcats are set to meet for the 13th time overall and second time this season. Davidson got the better of the Bonnies back in January, 73-39, at Belk Arena. The two teams have met twice before in the Atlantic 10 Tournament, once in 2019 and again in 2021 with Davidson winning both contests.
DAVIDSON NOTES
- Davidson finished the regular season 13-15 overall and 6-8 in Atlantic 10 play, falling to Fordham in the regular season finale Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats have dropped four out their last five games heading into the A-10 Tournament, earning a victory over George Washington Feb. 22.
- The Wildcats are coached by Gayle Fulks who is in her sixth season at the helm. She touts a career record of 85-92 in five-plus seasons. Fulks is 6-3 all-time against the Bonnies.
- Elle Sutphin leads the way for the Wildcats, averaging 16.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. She leads the A-10 in free throw percentage (88.3 percent), is fourth in field goal percentage (49.3 percent) and sixth in scoring.
- Suzie-Rose Deegan is second on the team and ninth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring, averaging 14.1 points per game.

- If the Bonnies win Wednesday evening, they advance to face the 6-seed Saint Joseph's Thursday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m.
