Softball Drops Final Two Games of Mount Softball Invitational

EMMITSBURG, MD – The St. Bonaventure University softball team dropped games to Central Connecticut State and Mount St. Mary's Sunday afternoon on the road.

The Bonnies fell to CCSU, 2-1, in game one before falling to Mount St. Mary's, 11-0, in five innings in game two.

GAME 1 – Central Connecticut State 2, St. Bonaventure 1
The Blue Devils were able to get on the scoreboard first with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first, taking an early 1-0 lead.

CCSU pushed its lead to two runs in the bottom of the second, scoring on an RBI single to right field.

The Bonnies looked to rally in the seventh, bringing their first run of the game home on a Bobbey RBI single.

Central Connecticut, however, recorded the final out during the next at-bat, earning the victory.

Bobbey finished with two hits in the contest.

Emily Phelan was in the circle for the Bonnies, striking out six and allowing just six hits.

GAME 2 – Mount St. Mary's 11, St. Bonaventure 0 – 5 Innings
The Mountaineers jumped ahead early in the bottom of the second, scoring a pair of runs on back-to-back safety squeezes.

Abigayle Perry was next up for Mount St. Mary's and she drove in two more runs in the inning with a triple to left field. The Mountaineers plated two more runs in the bottom of the second, taking a 6-0 lead.

The Mount added an insurance run in the bottom of the third with a single up the middle in the bottom of the third.

Four more runs crossed home for Mount St. Mary's in the bottom of the fourth, putting the game out of reach.

Elizabeth Lis got the start in game two, working three innings and allowing six hits. Kayla Ziemke finished the game in relief for the Bonnies, tossing the final inning in relief.

The Bonnies begin Atlantic 10 play next Saturday with a doubleheader on the road in Saint Louis.
