SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – Graduate student Jack Angelucci posted the top score of the week for the St. Bonaventure golf team at the Ross Collegiate Classic played on Mid-Pines Golf Club.
Angelucci finished the 54-hole tournament with a tie for 36th out of 90 players in the field. His best two rounds came in the opening 36 holes Monday, firing 1-under 71 in the first round followed by even par 72 in the afternoon 18. He carded three birdies and just two bogeys in the first round and drained four birdies in the second round. He would finish with a 223 total for the tournament after a closing round 80 on Tuesday.
Fellow grad student Erik Stauderman turned in rounds of 75-71-80 to tie for 42nd. He found red figures in the second round, pouring in four birdies against just two bogeys on the 6,713-yard layout. The fifth-year Bonnie was one of six players in the field to play the par 3s under par for the week (-1).
Also in the lineup for the Bonnies were Michael Bucko (79-77-80/236) and Peter Byrne (84-76-76/236).
As a team, the Bonnies finished 18th.
Angelucci's nine birdies led the Bonnies while Stauderman finished with eight on the week and Bucko tallied seven.
St. Bonaventure is next in action March 27-28 at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Va.
