St. Bonaventure N.Y – The St. Bonaventure University women's lacrosse team was struggled to get anything going against nationally ranked UMass, falling 18-5 Saturday afternoon at the Marra Athletics Complex.
UMass controlled the pace of the game from the start, quickly jumping to a 6-0 lead midway through the first period with Fiona McGowen scoring three of those goals.
The Bonnies were able to break the scoreless drought when freshman
Grace Hollenbeck received a pass from
Fiona McGovern to get the Bonnies on the scoreboard.
UMass (10-1, 4-0 A-10) continued its strong offensive performance, responding to the Bonnies goal with a 6-0 run of their own to enter the intermission with a 12-2 lead.
The third period began with three more Minutewomen goals.
Senior
Nora Anderson got the scoring going for the Bonnies in the second half with her seventh goal of the season off an assist from
Abby Hiltz.
However, UMass would pull away in the fourth quarter to secure an 18-5 victory.
St. Bonaventure (4-7, 2-2 A-10) was led by
Courtney Fox's two goals, which marks her first multi-goal game of the season.
Fiona McGowan led the Minutewomen with six goals, while Alex Finn and Charlotte Wilmoth each added three goals.
The Bonnies remain at home to take on Richmond on Saturday April 1
st. Start time is set for 11:00 A.M.
