WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – An up-and-down ride for the St. Bonaventure golf team at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate saw the Bonnies finish ninth out of 13 teams.

Monday's opening 36 holes saw one of the best days of the year for the Bonnies golfers as grad seniors Jack Angelucci and Erik Stauderman both vaulted into the top-10 on the individual leaderboard and the Bonnies posted a team score of 297 in round one followed by 284 in the second round to match the team's low round of the year.

Angelucci carded five birdies for an opening round even-par 71 before finding red figures with a 1-under round of 70 in the afternoon.

Stauderman matched his teammate on Monday, posting 73 in the morning before going low for 3-under 68 to equal a career-best during the afternoon round. The fifth-year Bonnie registered three birdies without a single blemish on his front nine, going out in 33 before an even-par back nine to complete his 36-hole day.

Freshman Caleb Decker also had his best day of the year on Monday, firing 73 in the morning before posting 79 in the afternoon.

Tuesday was a bit tougher for the Bonnies, however, as the team would settle for a 304 team score to post 885 for the week. The Bonnies finished ahead of Penn (889), Lafayette (896), St. Francis (PA) (903) and Saint Joseph's (914). Villanova captured the team crown with a winning score of 868, ahead of George Washington (870), Princeton (872), Longwood (873) and Navy (873).

Angelucci recorded a round of 77 on Tuesday, good enough for a top-20 finish overall out of 80 competitors (71-70-77/218) as he tied for 19th. Stauderman was just one shot back, tying for 23rd (73-68-78/219).

Peter Byrne (80-75-73/228) quickly erased an opening round 80, bouncing back for 75 in round two before a solid round of 73 on Tuesday to lead the Bonnies in the final 18.

Jude Cummings also responded well following an opening round 84, logging a solid round of 71 as well as a final round 76 (84-71-76/231) while Decker posted 238 for the week (73-79-86).

Playing as an individual, Michael Bucko carded rounds of 74-79-76/229.

Angelucci played the par-4s at even for the week, one of just five players in the field to record even or better on the par-4 layouts. He totaled a team-best 11 birdies as well.

The Bonnies return to action April 16-17 for the Abarta Collegiate Classic at Northampton Country Club in Easton, Pa.
