Bonnies Blow Past George Mason, 18-6

St. Bonaventure N.Y – The St. Bonaventure University women's lacrosse team used a balanced offensive attack to blow past George Mason, 18-6, Saturday afternoon at the Marra Athletics Complex.

Eight different players connected on scores Saturday afternoon.

St. Bonaventure took charge early in the first quarter, thanks to a Jessica Notaro free position goal to get the Bonnies on the board 43 seconds into the game.

George Mason (2-10, 2-4 A-10) responded, as Kate Elam got the Patriots on the board two minutes later.

The rest of the quarter would be all St. Bonaventure, as the team found the back of the net seven more times in the first, capped off by a Nora Anderson goal to give the team an 8-3 lead at the end of quarter one.

St. Bonaventure kept the same pace in the second quarter as Fiona McGovern completed a first half hat trick by firing a shot past the Patriots goalkeeper.

McGovern would add another in the quarter to cap off a Bonnies 4-1 run to end the first half.

The third period was once again all Bonnies, as four different St. Bonaventure player found the back of the net, including Notaro and McGovern, adding their fourth and fifth goals of the match.

St. Bonaventure (5-8, 3-5 A-10) used an impressive defensive effort to hold the Patriots scoreless in the third frame, not allowing a shot on goal during the 15-minute stretch.

A running clock made for a quick final period, which was highlighted by sophomore Tori Nascimento scoring her first goal of the season.

The Bonnies relentless offensive attack was led by Fiona McGovern's five goals, while Jessica Notaro (four goals, two assists) and Abby Hiltz (three goals, two assists) were also pivotal for the Bonnies on offense in Saturday's contest.

Defensively, freshman Brit Colangelo continued her strong play, leading the team four groundballs on the afternoon.

Goalkeeper Ashley Herrick made four saves in net for the Bonnies.

George Mason was led by Shannon Tuozzo (three goals) and Kate Elam (two goals/one assist).

Meghan Deehan tallied 11 saves for the Patriots.

The Bonnies will hit the road as they travel to take on non-conference opponent Saint Francis on Wednesday April 19th. The game is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
