LORETTO, Pa. – The St. Bonaventure University women's lacrosse struggled to stop the offensive attack of Saint Francis, falling 17-11 in a road matchup Wednesday afternoon.
Saint Francis started quickly offensively, starting the game on a 3-1 run, capped off by two Autumn McHenry goals.
Jessica Notaro responded by taking advantage of the man up opportunity to collect her 34
th goal of the year.
The second quarter would be all Red Flashes, as they were able to outscore the Bonnies 6-2 in the period the take a commanding lead at the break.
St. Bonaventure attempted to claw back into the game in the second half, scoring twice in the first five minutes to bring the score to within five.
However, Saint Francis (10-4, 5-3 NEC) would respond with their own 3-0 run in the final 3 minutes of the third.
St. Bonaventure fought back in the fourth as five different Bonnies players would find the back of the net, but the Bonnies would run out of time as Saint Francis emerged victorious at the final whistle.
The Bonnies ((5-10, 3-5 A-10) were led offensively by
Abby Hiltz's three goals, while
Fiona McGovern chipped in two goals and three assists.
In the cage,
Ashley Herrick and
Hayley McIntyre combined to collect six saves.
Saint Francis was led by Bella Fisher and Autumn McHenry who each scored six goals.
Elyssa Enrique had 13 saves for the Red Flashes.
The Bonnies will return home as they host La Salle on Saturday, April 22. The game is set to begin at noon. The team will be honoring their eight seniors prior to Saturday's contest.
