EASTON, Pa. – St. Bonaventure enjoyed a bounce back day Monday at the ABARTA Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational, posting a 297 team score after a tough opening 18 Sunday.
The Bonnies finished 15th in the 18-team field after an opening round 311 put SBU in a deep hole.
Grad seniors Erik Stauderman (150 total) and Jack Angelucci (152) showed the way for the Bonnies.
Stauderman opened the tournament with a 5-over 77 on the 6,675-yard layout at Northampton Country Club. He responded with 1-over 73 in the final round, posting birdies on the 502-yard par-5 seventh, 491-yard par-5 11th and 342-yard par-4 18th.
Angelucci was en route to a solid first round, playing the first 16 holes in 1-over par before finding trouble on 17 and 18 to settle for a disappointing 80. In round two, though, he was steady with an even-par 72.
In so doing, Angelucci picked up a bit of Bonnies history as he broke a tie with 2022 graduate Danny Gianniny for the most rounds of par or better in a season by registering his 11th such round this year. Angelucci accomplished the feat in just 23 rounds thus far on the season while Gianniny reached that mark last year in 32 rounds.
Peter Byrne was steady in his 36 holes, logging an opening round 76 before finishing at 77 in the final 18.
Also in the lineup for the Bonnies were Michael Bucko (79-75/154) and Jude Cummings (79-77/156).
Bona's 608 total tied with fellow A-10 squad Saint Joseph's.
The Bonnies have one more tune-up for Atlantic 10 Championships as they travel to Seven Oaks Golf Club in Hamilton, N.Y. next weekend to play vs. Colgate and Bucknell in a tri-match.
