4/18/2023 11:11:00 AM

OTTAWA – St. Bonaventure men's lacrosse alum Brett Dobson has officially been named to the Team Canada squad for World Championships this summer, Lacrosse Canada officials have announced.

Dobson anchored Canada's gold medal championship victory at last summer's World Games played under Sixes format.

The 2023 World Lacrosse Men's Championship will take place in San Diego, Ca., June 21 - July 1. Team Canada opens the action against the United States on June 21 at Snapdragon Stadium. Canada will compete in Pool A, made up of top-ranked teams: United States, Haudenosaunee, Australia, and England. Canada looks to improve on their 2018 silver medal finish from Israel.

Dobson was one of 26 players to make the cut for the final roster.

A consensus All-American while at St. Bonaventure, Dobson became quite possibly the nation's best goalie during his Bonnies career. He earned MAAC Defensive Player of the Year honors last season while leading the nation in save percentage and ranking second among all goalies in saves per game. In four seasons with the Bonnies he made 569 career saves to stand top-10 in MAAC history.

The Oshawa, Ontario native was drafted in the first round of both the PLL and NLL drafts as he turned pro last summer.

One of the top rookies in the NLL this season, Dobson has been excellent in net for the Georgia Swarm. He's earned eight wins on the year while making 489 saves with a 10.17 goals against average and impressive 79% save percentage.

He will join former Bonnies teammate and current SBU senior Brady Wijbrandts who will play for the Dutch National Team at World Championships this summer.
