HAMILTON, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure posted a strong second round on a cold Sunday afternoon at Seven Oaks Golf Club to finish second in a tri-match with Colgate and Bucknell as part of The Upstate Battle.

The Bonnies shot 303 in the opening round Saturday, battling wind and difficult scoring conditions. Sunday was a bit more forgiving on the 7,125-yard par 72 layout as the Bonnies logged a 294 team score to finish at 597 for the weekend, eight shots off the winning score of 589 from host Colgate.

Bona's entered the day in a tie with Bucknell, but the Sunday effort sent the Bonnies to a finishing score 10 shots better than the Bison.

Graduate student Erik Stauderman placed third on the individual leaderboard with a 3-over par total of 147. He shot even-par 72 on Saturday, a sparkling round given the howling winds. He finished with 75 on Sunday.

Classmate Jack Angelucci shot up the leaderboard in the final round, finding red figures with his 3-under par round of 69 which was 10 shots better than his Saturday effort.

Angelucci finished fourth individually (148).

Bucknell's Josh Holtschlag and Colgate's Robbie Herzig tied for medalist honors at 1-over 145, just two shots clear of Stauderman and three ahead of Angelucci.

Also in the lineup for the Bonnies were Michael Bucko (76-75/151), Peter Byrne (76-77/153) and Jude Cummings (80-75/155).

Freshman Gabe Williams also finished top-10 after his best collegiate round on Sunday. He matched Angelucci with his own round of 69, posting 151 for the weekend after an opening round 82.

The Bonnies now turn their attention to the Atlantic 10 Championship this coming week at the Reunion Resort and Golf Club in Kissimmee, Fla. Tee times begin at 7:30 a.m. with first round action Friday.
