The St. Bonaventure University softball team returns to Joyce Field to host Rhode Island in a crucial three-game Atlantic 10 series, starting Saturday, April 29 with a doubleheader at 12:00 p.m. The Bonnies and Rams conclude the three-game set Sunday with a single game starting at 12:00 p.m.
WEEKEND LOOK BACK
- The Bonnies took two out of three games on the road at George Washington last week, earning wins in the series opener Saturday and finale Sunday.
- In game one, Kennedy Haberl's solo home run sparked a four-run top of the seventh, rallying the Bonnies from down three to capture the win, 4-3. Emily Phelan picked up her ninth win of the season, tossing a complete game and fanning six.
- Down to their last at-bats once again, the Bonnies rallied for a four-run seventh inning to secure the series victory over the Colonials, winning 4-2 in game three of the series. Elizabeth Lis went the distance in the circle for her second win of the season.
CLIMBING THE RANKS
- Junior Emily Phelan continues to pitch her way through the Bonnies record book. Her 29 starts and 30 appearances ranks second for a single season in Bonnies program history. She also ranks fourth in single season strikeouts with 118 and fifth in innings pitch at 153.1 innings.
- For her career, Phelan is fourth all-time with 244 strikeouts while ranking seventh in innings pitched (303.2) and starts (57). She also ranks ninth in wins (15), 10th in appearances (65) and 10th in complete games (28).
AT THE DISH
- Leading the way at the plate for the Brown and White is Olivia Whitecar with a .381 batting average to go along with 11 runs, two doubles and two triples. Brooke Bobbey is second on the squad with a .345 average in a team-best 113 at-bats and has registered four triples.
- Abby Suhr is batting .319 which ranks third on the Bonnies and has driven in 12 RBIs.
- Kennedy Haberl has smacked a career-high four home runs and 18 RBIs while hitting .286 in 70 at-bats.
RHODE ISLAND NOTES
- Rhode Island enters the weekend 18-27-1 overall and 8-11 in Atlantic 10 play, coming off a doubleheader sweep of UMass Wednesday afternoon. The Rams have also secured A-10 series wins over Fordham and George Washington.
- Jessica Hennelly leads the way at the plate with a .321 batting average and has driven in 14 runs. Skylar Rapuano is second on the team in batting at .306, belting a team-high nine doubles and collecting 16 RBIs.
- In the circle, Katie Zaun is 7-11 with a 3.25 ERA in 29 appearances, tossing 118.1 innings. She has struck out 100 batters while walking 40. Liz Lynchard leads the Rams with nine wins, striking out 125 in 123.1 innings of work.
UP NEXT
- The Bonnies head out on the road to take on Little Three rival Niagara Wednesday, May 3. The doubleheader is slated to get underway at 3:00 p.m.
