Komori Scores Twice; Bonnies Earn Draw at Eastern Michigan To Open 2023 Season

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Ami Komori netted a pair of goals to highlight a 2-2 draw for the St. Bonaventure University women's soccer team at Eastern Michigan Thursday afternoon, beginning the new era of Bonnies women's soccer under first-year head coach Donny George.

The Bonnies trailed 2-1 with just over 10 minutes to play before Komori struck for her second goal of the contest.

In the 77th minute, Allen found the foot of Komori and the sophomore slotted home the game-tying goal.

The Bonnies opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Komori, a 2022 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team selection, corralled a pass from freshman Olivia Allen for the first score of the season.

Eastern Michigan was eager to net the tying goal, but junior goalkeeper Chiara Gottinger made five saves in the first half to keep the hosts off the board.

EMU was able to net the equalizer just 20 minutes into the second half off the foot of Kate Robinson.

Just seven minutes later, the Eagles grabbed the lead when Meagan Lukowski found the back of the net.

The hosts looked to tally the game-winning goal in the closing seconds, but Gottinger was there to turn the shot away, preserving the draw.

Gottinger finished with nine saves in net while Allen led the Bonnies with three shots. Komori added a pair of shots while Rachel Hutchison, Haylee Smith and Elisabeth Ptacek registered a shot apiece.

For Komori, it marked her first career multi-goal game.

The Bonnies will make their 2023 home debut Sunday at the Marra Athletics Complex when they host Cleveland State. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
