Bonnies Tripped Up By Cleveland State, 3-1

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women's soccer team suffered a 3-1 setback to Cleveland State Sunday afternoon at the Marra Athletics Complex.

The Vikings opened the scoring in the seventh minute when Mayra Sesmas sent a shot just under the crossbar for the game's first goal.

It did not take long for the Bonnies to respond, however, when Ami Komori slotted a low shot past the Cleveland State goalkeeper in the 16th minute, tying the score at 1-1. For Komori, it marked her third goal of the season after scoring a pair in the season opener Thursday at Eastern Michigan.

The Vikings retook the lead just before halftime in the 36th minute when Payton Koebbe took advantage of a breakaway and punched home Cleveland State's second goal of the game.

CSU added an insurance goal late in the contest as Rylee Bussen headed a ball just over the line in the 80th minute, clinching the win for the visitors.

In net, Chiara Gottinger stopped eight shots for the Bonnies.

The Bonnies remain at home Thursday, Aug. 24 when they host Marist. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m.
