Women's Soccer Kicks Off A-10 Action Against Dayton on Thursday; Travels to Davidson Sunday

The St. Bonaventure women's soccer team opens up conference play on Thursday as they host Dayton. The team travels to Davison on Sunday for a matinee matchup with the Wildcats. 
 
LAST TIME OUT
After a scoreless first half in Buffalo, the Bonnies couldn't hang on, falling to Canisius, 2-0. The Golden Griffins took the lead just over four minutes into the second half. They added an insurance goal in the 78th minute. 
 
Keeper Chiara Gottinger made eight saves for the Brown and White.
 
WELCOME TO THE A-10
Sophomore transfer Olivia Allen is set to see her first Atlantic 10 action with the Bonnies. Currently, the Holland Landing, Ontario native is tied for fifth in total goals and sits at fourth in points per game in the conference. Allen has posted eight total points with three goals and two assist including a penalty kick goal in the Brown and White's win over Niagara. 
 
ABOUT DAYTON
The Flyers come into Thursday's game off a 2-2 draw with Michigan State. Dayton has a 5-1-2 record, with their lone loss coming against IUPUI. 
 
A year ago, the Flyers went 16-4-1 overall and 8-2 in the A-10 making it to the conference championship game where they fell to Saint Louis. UD returns Mackenzie Lutz and Alicia Donley who were named to the A-10 All-Conference squad a year ago. As well, 2022 A-10 All-Rookie goalkeeper Batoul Reda returns for the Flyers. 
 
Reda has made 35 saves so far this season including two clean sheets. She earned A-10 defensive player of the week for the week of Aug. 28. 
 
ABOUT DAVIDSON
The Wildcats finish non-conference play with a 3-4 record. Junior Aleia Gisolfi-McCready has led the team offensively with two goals and one assist. Eight different Wildcats have put up points so far this season. 
 
Davidson made it to the A-10 semifinals in 2022 where they dropped a 1-0 decision to Dayton. The Wildcats posted a record of 13-3-4 overall and went 5-2-3 in conference play. They return 18 players from their 2022 roster.
