BRONX, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team dropped its Atlantic 10 opener to Fordham, 3-0, Saturday afternoon on the road.
The Rams (3-0-3, 1-0-0 A-10) broke through on the scoreboard in the 25th minute when Florian Deletioglu found the back of the net after a cutback pass from Daniel D'Ippolito.
Following halftime, the Rams extended their lead to 2-0 after Timo Hummerich struck on a penalty kick in the 53rd minute.
Fordham added a third goal in the 58th minute on an acrobatic finish from Deletioglu, securing the conference win.
The Bonnies (2-3-1, 0-1-0 A-10) best chance in the contest came on a free kick from Kenzo Brito, but the shot was handled by the Fordham goalkeeper.
Senior goalkeeper Jules Dechert earned the start in net, making six saves in the match.
Brito paced the Bonnies with three shots while Andres Javitt registered a pair of chances. Rafael Pereira, Daniel Helle and Rashid Aroza also tallied a shot for the Bonnies.
The Bonnies are back in action Wednesday, Sept. 20 when they host Little Three rival Canisius. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.
