St. Bonaventure men's lacrosse alum Brett Dobson will have the opportunity to play in the Premier Lacrosse League Championship Game in front of a national TV audience this Sunday.
Dobson has helped lead the Archers into the title game vs. the Waterdogs at 3 p.m. in Philadelphia. The game will air live on ABC.
A consensus All-American at St. Bonaventure, Dobson was a second round pick by the Archers in last year's PLL Draft. After serving in a reserve role as a rookie, he has been a breakout success in his second season as a professional.
Nominated for the league's goalie of the year award, he has stopped over 58 percent of shots faced this year while logging 123 saves. He was key to the Archers putting together an 8-2 record and earning the top seed in this year's playoffs. He was also named a midseason All-Star.
In the PLL semifinals, the Archers dominated Redwoods, 14-6, with an impeccable performance by Dobson in net. He made 18 saves in the game, with a save percentage of better than 78 percent.
The Archers and Waterdogs figure to have a thrilling championship final after splitting a pair of games each decided by one goal during the regular season. Archers took the first matchup, 19-18, back on July 30, but the Waterdogs squeaked out a 14-13 victory Aug. 25.
