WASHINGTON, D.C. – St. Bonaventure's Owen Tasse and Patrick Shanahan have each earned postseason all-conference awards with the release of the Atlantic 10 Men's Lacrosse honors Wednesday. Tasse was voted onto the All-Conference Second Team while Shanahan was selected to the All-Academic Team.
Tasse established himself as one of the league's top defensive players this year. He ranked second among all Atlantic 10 players in caused turnovers by setting a new program record with 30 this spring. The senior from Ottawa, Ontario also ranked 11th nationally in caused turnovers per game.
He started every game during the season and also ranked seventh in the conference for groundballs with 59 which was second among all non-faceoff specialists during the year.
For his career, he stands second in school history with 54 career caused turnovers and third with 97 groundballs.
He becomes the first Bonaventure player to be selected either First or Second Team All-Conference during the program's Atlantic 10 era.
Shanahan has starred for the Bonnies on the field and in the classroom during his three seasons with the team.
A Biology major with a 3.87 cumulative GPA, he has served as a leader for the Bonnies attack since joining the program.
This year, he started every game and registered 25 goals along with eight assists for 33 total points, good for second on the team. He stood 10th among all Atlantic 10 players in total goals and also scooped up 24 groundballs on the year.
A native of Bayport, N.Y., Shanahan tied a Bonnies program record by scoring at least one point in 13 consecutive games to end the year. He set a season high with six points in an A-10 game at Delaware earlier this month and tallied multiple points in four of six conference contests.
Shanahan currently stands third in Bonnies career points (79) and fourth in goals (56).
