MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Junior Umechi Akuazaoku scored his second goal of the season, helping the St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team to a 1-1 draw on the road at Robert Morris Tuesday afternoon.
Following a scoreless first half, the Colonials were able to find the game's first goal in the 55th minute off the foot of Gabe Norris.
The Bonnies (4-3-2), however, wasted no time finding the equalizer when Akuazaoku found the back of the net in the 59th minute.
After Robert Morris failed to clear a cross attempt, Rafael Pereira corralled the ball and found the foot of Keegan Dawson, who sent in a long ball into the box where Akuazaoku settled the pass and sent the left-footed shot past the goalkeeper, tying the game at 1-1.
Akuazaoku had two chances to break the tie in the 61st and 64th minutes, but his shots went just over the bar. The junior forward paced the Bonnies with three shots in the contest.
Robert Morris (3-3-3) had a counter-attacking chance in the closing seconds, but were unable to find the game-winning goal as time expired.
Nicolas Pucci earned the start in net for the Bonnies, making a season-high six saves.
Rashid Aroza and Kenzo Brito registered a pair of shots each while Andres Javitt, Mattia Ferretti and Pereira added a shot apiece.
The Bonnies return to Atlantic 10 action Saturday, Sept. 30 on the road at Dayton. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.
