HAMILTON, N.Y. – Graduate student Lance Sininger posted a top-20 finish to highlight the weekend play at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational for the St. Bonaventure golf team.
Sininger tied for 19th in the field of 82 players at Seven Oaks Golf Club.
As a team, Bonaventure finished 10th of 13 squads competing in the 54-hole tournament.
On Saturday, the Bonnies produced matching team scores of 299 in each the first and second rounds. In Sunday's finale, the Bonnies posted 305 to finish at 903 for the weekend.
Sininger, fresh off a win in the Little Three Championship earlier in the week, carded 75 in his morning round Saturday before improving to even-par 72 in the afternoon. He played the 6,950-yard layout in 75 again on Sunday to complete the weekend.
Sophomore Michael Bucko opened with his best round of the tournament, firing 72 in round one before closing with efforts of 76 and 78 for a 226 total, four shots back of Sininger to tie for 28th.
Senior Jude Cummings turned in rounds of 75-77-76/228 while classmate Peter Byrne posted 81-74-76/231. Also in the lineup for the Bonnies were sophomore Caleb Decker (77-78-79/234) and freshman Josh James (80-79-84/243).
Yale dominated the field for the tournament championship, winning with a team score of 853 that was 17 shots clear of the competition and a scorching 11-under par. Villanova (870), Seton Hall (871), Bucknell (876) and Lehigh (880) completed the top-10. The Bonnies were the only Atlantic 10 squad in the field.
St. Bonaventure returns to competition Sept. 10-11 at the Cornell Invitational which will be held in Watchung, N.J.
