PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team fell to Duquesne, 76-67, Wednesday evening at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.
The Dukes opened the game on a 16-3 run take control of the contest early on and grew their lead to as many as 15 in the first period, 24-9.
The Bonnies were able to get back-to-back layups from Kirah Dandridge and Payton Fields to end the quarter, cutting the deficit to 11.
Bona's came to life in the second period, closing the half on a 12-2 run to pull back within five at the break, 38-33. Taylor Napper was able to spark the run with eight points during that span.
Duquesne scored the first nine points of the second half to give the hosts back the double-digit advantage.
The Dukes outscored the Bonnies, 26-12, in the third to take a 19-point lead into the final quarter.
Nadechka Laccen made a 3-pointer with 1:26 remaining on the clock to pull the Bonnies back within nine, but the hosts would answer with a layup on the other end to put the game out of reach for good.
Isabellah Middleton finished with a team-high 15 points and nine rebounds. Laccen (12 points), Dani Haskell (12 points) and Payton Fields (11 points) also finished in double figures for the Bonnies.
The Bonnies are back in action Saturday, Jan. 20 on the road at Loyola Chicago. Tip is slated for 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. ET.
