Davidson Blanks Women's Soccer

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure women's soccer team fell to Davidson on Thursday evening at the Marra Athletics Complex. Three second half goals helped the visiting Wildcats to a 4-0 victory on a warm evening in Western New York.

Davidson (6-5-2, 2-3 A-10) jumped out to an early lead, netting the opening score in the seventh minute. SJ Pak was credited with the goal.

Torrie Grant-Clavijo and Thea Juul each recorded a shot for Bona in the opening 45 minutes but were unable to convert their chances.

St. Bonaventure goalkeeper Chiara Gottinger made two saves in the first half to keep the score 1-0 going into the intermission.

The Wildcats doubled their lead in the 48th minutes as a misplayed ball in front following a Wildcats corner kick found the back of the net.

Davidson added a third goal in the 62nd minute as Dakota Lyons created space alone and converted on a shot from the top of the box.

Bonnies sophomore Lauren Westwood tried to cut into the deficit, taking a shot on a free kick outside the 18-yard box, but sent her chance over the crossbar.

St. Bonaventure (1-9-2, 0-3-1 A-10) had a few looks at goal in the late going from Alessia Donia, who played her shot high, and Grant-Clavijo had her shot saved.

In the closing minute, the Wildcats added their final goal from Alli Jacobson.

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH DONNY GEORGE
"Tonight was a tough one, and right now, we're grappling with consistency—whether it's standing our ground against tough opposition or being relentless in our style of play. But tonight gave us valuable insight into ourselves and each individual on the team."

"We controlled the game, dominated possession, and dictated the tempo, but conceding four goals is simply not acceptable. The great thing about soccer is that it's always a lesson. We'll learn, we'll grow, and our focus now shifts to the next game, where we'll be ready to respond."
