Welcome to "Behind The Bonnies," a new GoBonnies.com series where we get to know the student-athletes at St. Bonaventure University. In this edition, we meet Bonnies sophomore swimmer Anna Bojána Forján.
Anna Bojána Forján burst onto the scene with St. Bonaventure swimming as a freshman in 2023. In Bojána Forján's first eight races, she logged one win and seven second place finishes. Later in the season, Bojána Forján had three consecutive victories with a pair of wins in the 100-backstroke and then 200-IM against Canisius and then a win the 100-backstroke against Duquesne.
At the Atlantic 10 Championships last year, Bojána Forján set two program records in the 100-backstroke (54.52) and 200-backstroke (1:57.27). She was also honored as an Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week during the season.
Bojána Forján, a Hungary native, has times in the 50-and 100-backstroke that has placed in her country's top 10. She earned second place at Hungarian Nationals in the 4x50 free. Bojána Forján also placed first in the 4x100 medley relay at the Hungarian National Youth Championships.
Anna Bojána Forján is a native of Mezotur, Hungary.
What is your favorite memory playing your sport? When I broke the school record and everyone in my team was cheering for me, it meant a lot
What is your favorite hobby to do outside of playing your sport? Watching F1 and water polo and reading books
Where is your dream vacation spot? Mallorca, I have been there and it's amazing
What is the best part about being a part of your Bonnies team? It feels like a family
What is your favorite sports team and who is your favorite athlete? Ferrari (F1) and my favorite athlete is Lando Norris
Why did you choose St. Bonaventure? I saw the opportunity that they could bring the best out of me
If you could live inside one TV show/movie what would it be? Modern Family
What is your favorite quote from your Coach? "I train you hard to become the best."
Where is your favorite place you've traveled with the team? Miami, Florida
You can bring any four people to dinner, who are you inviting? Grandma, Silvana Cabrera, Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz
What is your something you think most people don't know about your sport? We have four different strokes
If you weren't playing your sport, what other sport would you most like to play? Probably water polo or tennis
