CLEVELAND, Ohio – The St. Bonaventure men's swimming and diving team earned a second-place finish at the Magnus Cup. The Bonnies set two meet records and one new St. Bonaventure program record over the three-day event.
 
Graduate student Aidan Kreiley led the way, establishing a new program top-mark in the 200-breast. His time of 1:58.07 beat out previous record-holder Hylton Collison who set the previous Bona's time to beat of 1:58.31 in February 2020.
 
Kreiley also recorded a second-place finish in the 100-breast (54.23) and a fourth-place finish in the 50-breast (25.28).
 
Luigi Termine and Alexander Behr both set new Magnus Cup records on the final day of competition in Ohio on Saturday.
 
Termine swam 22.53 in the 50-back while Behr went 1:45.25 in the 200-fly to post new meet top-times.
 
Henry Wilkes followed Termine in the 50-back, posting a third-place finish. Wilkes and Termine also finished second and third respectively in the 200-back.
 
In diving action, junior Ben Giera was at the top of the podium in the 3-meter, posting a score of 310.35. Giera recorded a third-place finish in the 1-meter (311.85).
 
Ben O'Neill posted a second-place performance in the 1-meter (320.65) and took third in the 3-meter (283.45).
 
Grad student Sam Matthews was another top performer for the Brown and White.
 
Matthews claimed third in the 50-free (20.35) and 100-free (44.95) and fourth in the 50-fly (21.94).
 
Johnny Edwards earned a spot on the podium in the 500-free with a time of 4:31.50. Aiden Hall finished behind Edwards with a time of 4:33.86 to take sixth place.
 
Edwards also competed in the 1650-freestyle, earning his best finish of the meet. He touched the wall in 15:45.03 to earn a runner-up finish.
 
Sophomore Carlos Hidalgo claimed third in the 50-fly (21.75) and fourth in the 50-freestyle (20.42).
 
In the 200-IM, Kevyn Collazo Torres finished second (1:49.69) while Connor Peck finished in seventh place (1:51.72).
 
Collazo Torres had a breakout meet with the sophomore making three A-final races.
 
In relay action, Termine, Kreiley, Behr, and Matthews won the 400-medley relay, combining for a time of 3:13.74. In the 200-free relay, Matthews, Collazo Torres, Behr, and Hidalgo finished in second place, finishing in 1:21.05.

Cleveland State beat out the Bonnies for the team title, scoring 1662 points to SBU's 1312. Youngstown State was the third place finisher with 1240 points followed by Xavier and Niagara to round out the top five. Le Moyne, IUP (DII), Canisius, Valparaiso, and Ashland (DII) rounded out the leaderboard.

"Our men are figuring out how to perform in prelims much better. Last year at championships we fell a bit flat Saturday morning and moved down to third place and left a bad taste in our mouths. Yesterday Youngstown, who is a great team, was on our tail charging for top two and our men got it done in prelims to hold them off. We had some relays that won despite not being the favorites and we challenged a top tier mid major in Cleveland State."

"The divers were awesome. We handled pressure well and showed we have the best dive program in the Atlantic 10. We are starting to learn how to win. We have two months of training ahead to build off this momentum and make a statement at Atlantic 10 Championships."

The Bonnies travel to Canisius Dec. 3 to wrap up the 2024 portion of their schedule.
